Food, glorious food, you complete me. How someone who loves to eat as much as I love to eat isn’t significantly over weight is beyond me. I guess I have Bugaboo to thank, since he helps me keep my girlish figure. You know, like when I have to run a 5K to find him and stuff?
Of course, it might also be because I love vegetables a whole, whole bunch and eat tons of ’em. I even host a CSA pickup site at my house. That way, I get farm-fresh produce delivered right to my door every week. And HOLY COW, it’s good stuff.
And, if there is one thing I love almost as much as taters? It’s red beets. Oh my stinking heck, I love red beets. LOVE. When I get them, they are just pulled from the ground. I scrub ’em, roast ’em and then peel them. Then I eat ’em. Lots. And, okay, it does make yer pee kinda pink but beets are nature’s awesomest food next to taters. And, well, bacon. And cheese. And…right. Beets. I was discussing beets.
Oh my heck. Now I want some beets.
See? I’m not only obsessed with taters. I also like cucumbers. And fresh tomatoes and herbs right out of my garden. And green beans. And peppers. Well, basically most stuff that grows in the ground. And on trees and vines and shrubs and stuff.
Not peanuts. Ahem.
Bug Boy definitely gets that from me. If he were left to his own devices he would eat nothing but fruits and veggies. He loves ’em more than most anything. In fact, at school parties, I usually insist there are fruits and vegetables available. The other moms snicker at me when I suggest it. Then they watch my boy get up with his classmates and while the other kids all pile their plates with cookies and chips, my boy takes A COOKIE and piles his plate high with carrots, celery, cantaloupe, you name it. So there.
But Bugaboo? The only fruit the kid would eat was apples. We all know how that turned out, right? ALLERGIC. And I have to sneak veggies in things. Though he will eat wheat free zuke or banana bread if I make it. I mean, the kid doesn’t even like taters. The only indication I have that he wasn’t switched at birth was when I made tater tots the other night and HE ATE THEM. I took his temperature, I was so concerned for him. He ate tots, y’all. TOTS. He’s my boy after all!
