Dear State Delegate of the Commonwealth of Virginia Boob Marshall (see what I did there?),
I just love that fabulous comment you made about women who have disabled children are being punished by God for having abortions. I have a few things to say in response to your intelligent and well-though-out proclamation.
I have a disabled child(ren).
I did not have an abortion.
I did, however, have a miscarriage. Which is a spontaneous abortion. Applying your logic, I deserved it because I had premarital sex (GASP!). And my ovaries are polycystic because I used oral contraceptives (WHOA!). And I had placenta abruptia and nearly bled to death because I was unhappy when I first found out about being pregnant (THE NERVE!).
There is plenty wrong with your statement. I don’t think you meant your apology one iota. In fact, I’m fairly certain you still believe what you said. Don’t get me started on the fact that you are clearly sexist (didn’t blame men, did you?) and disablist. And basically just a douchebag. Yup, resorted to name-calling. Mostly because your words remind me of school-yard taunting and finger-pointing. Which brings me to the conclusion that the reason you are a gigantic arse-hat is simply due to being picked last for dodge ball in the third grade.
I’ve got news for you, too. I don’t think my disabled children are a punishment. I consider them a blessing. I consider them a gift from the Almighty and I believe they have taught me much in the way of life lessons, from unconditional love to perspective to priorities in life and everything in between. I’m better than you are. My life is better than yours. So there.
