Just Had to Share

Y’all know my Bug Boy is an avid reader.  Avid meaning we have to go into his room many times a night to tell him to put the books down and outen the light.  Avid, meaning, books are like crack and we have to go to book stores and goodwill to find them many times a week. Like, I cannot get them OUT OF HIS ROOM once he has them in his grimy little paws.
Anyways, Bugaboo is the complete opposite. Rips them, stands on them, once in a while glances at a cover.  Except for the musical books where you push the buttons, he had absolutely no interest.   I’d read to him and he’d slam the book shut or push me away or take the book and read it.

HAD NO INTEREST. As in, past tense.

This week, Bugaboo is happy to cuddle in bed before bedtime while he is drowsy and read book after book of his favorites.  He is letting me read all the books I used to read to him when he was two.  We’re reading Sandra Boyton (he LOVES Moo, Baa, La La La) and Thomas and teletubbies and Chicka Chicka and more!  We’re also looking at “My big world book” and he is pointing to pictures when I ask him to.  Like, “Where’s Mr. Giraffe?”  And he shows me!

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HUGE THIS IS???????
Add to that, the fact that he is signing completely independently now, starting to use pecs/pictures to get what he wants and LISTENS when I talk to him. Like, he follows directions!

AND HE’S PUTTING HIMSELF ON THE TOILET!!!!
I don’t know if things are finally going our way or if it is the fact that I’VE SLEPT FOR FOUR NIGHTS STRAIGHT but dang I feel good!!!!

YAY for you! That is such wonderful news for all of you!

Emma is the same as your Bug Boy. She is constantly looking at books, and at bedtime we allow to her look at a few books before she turns out the light. Then when it is time for us to go to bed, we take out the dozen books she has tucked all around her. She’s now learning to read and this morning read her first sentence by herself without any prompting from me.

Ever since my sister’s caregiver stopped giving my nephew Gatorade to drink, we have noticed that he is not as spastic and out of control. He’s more focused when he plays and whatnot. HOWEVER, he is still a little hellion and loud as ever. Plus he refuses to eat anything but hot dogs and carrots. And he is saying Uh-Oh. He still yells and screams and gives his mom lots of grief, but there is a little bit of improvement.
