Well Said, Sister!

June 19, 2009 by Marj Hatzell

Okey doke. I’m not trying to get into a debate here. I’m just saying that it’s tough no matter what you choose (or not choose) to do. Life sucks in general.  Get over it, make the best of it.

That said, Please go HERE and read.

I’ll wait.

Now, discuss amongst yourselves.

I’ve always thought that the hardest job is the one you don’t choose. If you want to SAH and can’t, working is hell. If you want to work, but childcare costs more than your take home pay, and so you must quit, then that’s hell, too.

The thing I hate most about the mommy wars, is the assumption that there is a choice, when for many, there isn’t.

I liked the post – and spent time reading the comments. For me, I chose to divorce my abusive husband to raise my son pretty much on my own. Does that mean I like my choice? Not so much. All it means is that I had to make it. But *I* made that choice knowing that even with me having to be the provider, he was so much better off than being in that hellacious life. Do I own it? You bet. Do I envy any other woman on the planet because of what they get to do? Hell to the no.

Hmmm, oddly enough I think I’d like to work AND be a mom, but physically can’t. Accepting that I have physical limitations is the worst part..I haven’t told my office that I’m not returning and it’s slowly eating away at me.
