Today marks Bugaboo’s first day off for a three-week break. For those of you not good at math that’s TWENTY FOUR DAYS. Yes, I’m counting. Normally our breaks are stressful, I cry quite a bit, he cries quite a bit and no one gets any sleep. I’m actually looking forward to this one.
Bugaboo has been doing so well with potty training that his teacher has asked me to send in underpants when he starts again in July! UNDERPANTS! Thomas briefs, here we come! I’ve been holding onto them for five years, It’s been that long since Bug Boy has been trained. Don’t worry, they will fit Bugaboo. He is quite teeny in the butt area, the 3Ts fit him (even though he wears a size 4T/5T pant. With diapers. With underwear I’m sure we’re back to 3T). I cannot begin to tell y0u how exciting it is that this child goes on the toilet on a regular basis. He still wakes up wet once in a while and occasionally does not want to come inside to use the bathroom, but it’s more progress than I ever hoped for.
We are joining the local pool. DH has been complaining about how expensive it is (the first year, due to the bond, will cost us about $1,000) but we’re doing it. We didn’t pay $400 for camp and we aren’t taking a $2,000 vacation across the country this summer (OH HAYELL NO!) so we do have the money. It means the rest of the summer will be cheap, but that’s ok. I need something to do with them. And swimming is therapeutic. It also knocks them out cold. MWAHAHAHAHA!!!! The cool thing is that they have this swap day with the other local pool, where many of our friends belong. It should be fun. Of course, the main reason for doing this is because Bug Boy’s school friends belong there, too. Socialization, my friends.
Of course, regardless of the fact that I was on the swim team as a child, I am not a pool person. Per se. I mean, it’s ok. I don’t like to get my hair wet (this was a problem when I was on the swim team) and I hate the sun. Then there’s that pesky skin cancer thing I have going on. So we’ll sit in the shade alot and wear sunblock 900+. All of us. RASH GUARDS RULE!
Anyways, there you have it. Happy Beginning of Summer.
