About That Blood Work

June 23, 2008 by Marj Hatzell

Today I received the results of my blood sugar. It seems that although my cholesterol is abso-smurfly awesome at 142 (high for me, I’m usually at about 99) and I don’t have lyme disease or Mono (again), I do have a teensy problem with my blood sugar and hemoglobin, and therefore have to submit to more blood tests.  Thursday I’ll have a fasting glucose test and get tested once again for Anemia, just to be sure it isn’t a fluke.  I’ve been borderline anemic since about a year after Bugaboo was born (I bled so much after he was born that it was 4.8.  And somehow I survived.) and I’ve had to have many blood sugar tests due to slightly high results.  Since I have family members that are diabetic, I am not surprised by this.  I am also not concerned, since they have type II and I do not possess one risk factor…But I do have many symptoms and have for years.  In fact, I have been told I’m prediabetic, even though I exercise, eat well, take good care of myself (mostly) and am at my goal weight.

Stay tuned…

Hey, girl. I don’t want to be a downer, but my best friend (the one from NJ, not the one who watches the doggie for you sometimes) has type 1. Her mom is type 2 and I don’t know that she had any risk factors…her “gestational diabetes” turned out to be type 1…

Fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted.

Accccck. Hoping for good results on round two.

(I’m procrastinating on blood work myself — really must get to the lab this week. Hey, I wonder whether WRH ever got her butt over to the lab like she was ‘sposed to?)

  4. You have a family history of it, so that can be a problem.

Are you controlling what you are eating? You might want to consider doing so. I worry that you will become insulin resistant and that can be deadly.

    Even at your goal weight.

    🙂 🙂 🙂

  5. I say we piggy pile on top of WRH until she does. And she comments again at RoD!!

Hey, I am guest blogging at until RoD is back up. It’s unclear how long it is going to take to recover the sats on the RoD!!

Were you sick when they ran the tests? That can lead to a high blood sugar too.

    Just a thought.

Oh my goodness… we have a lot more in common it seems… Hope you feel better soon!

I have to watch what I eat because I am anemic and hypoglycemic….talk about messed up! I have to make sure I keep my iron levels up, and at the same time have to make sure I eat something every couple of hours so that my sugar levels don’t crash. If I go a couple of hours without eating I get all shaky and a massive headache. It sucks.

Ummmmm, you neglected to tell me this the other night. Hope it turns out all right!
