Crying Yellow Tears

December 11, 2007 by Marj Hatzell

My poor Bugaboo.

Flu/Stomach virus, eye infection, ear infection, sinus infection.  His tears are yellow when he cries. He is achy, cranky, tired, feverish and lethargic. This is not the Bugaboo we know!  Although, I have to admit, it is nice to be able to sit and cuddle with him and put my feet up.  That is not something we often have a chance to do.

Bugaboo has also been chattering non-stop.  He was feeling yucky on Saturday and said, “Shoe.” Clear as a bell. He’s been babbling tons and has been saying, “Momma, Dada, Nah!  Nah! (no)” with reckless abandon. This boy is so close I can almost taste it.  I cannot tell you what a blessing it will be to hear this child’s voice!  Do you know how much easier it will make life if he could tell us his tummy hurt, his head ached or his ears were clogged?  Right now it is a guessing game.  I have to watch  him like a hawk.  Zombie mode on the couch is usually a dead give away (no pun intended) that he is ill, why else would he stop moving? Oh, and diarrhea and puking could also be interpreted as a stomach virus. Seriously, though, a sick Bugaboo is a cranky Bugaboo, but even then he is still somewhat pleasant and charming.

This could not happen at a worse time. This is the week from H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks as far as schedule goes.  Bug Boy has an EEG today and I have to bring him home hooked up (and I have to be around him constantly until tomorrow when he goes back!).  Darling has business meetings in North Jersey so won’t really be around at all for two days.  Bugaboo is supposed to have speech and somehow I have to run errands with this kid (not. happening.).Tutoring?  I think I’m cancelling. I hate to do that, but I also do not want to make her sick.

Bugaboo is perking up a little this morning he drank a whole cup of watered-down juice and nibbled some toast.  He is also picking my plants, so that is a good sign. After all, if I am not cleaning up after him  (and I mean, right after him) what fun is that?  If he’s better today he is soooooo going to school tomorrow.  I’m gonna need three days to recover from him being home for two days.

Oh no! Poor baby and poor mama. Wishing him a speedy if not immediate recovery!

Yikes, it’s like being buried under a snow drift with no snow! Sorry DG.

It’s funny you said that about his talking. DH emailed me yesterday? Maybe the day before about an article he read that stated exactly that. Autistic children speak more when they have fevers. If you want I can ask him where he saw the article, but I know you keep up on all the research so I assumed you already saw it.

I hope your son is better by now.
